Kenneth Connor was a stage, film and broadcasting actor who became a familiar face of British comedy through the Carry On series, appearing in seventeen of the original thirty films between 1958 and 1978 — including Carry On Teacher — in roles ranging from nervy romantic leads to broad comic turns. Outside the series he built a long career in London theatre and on television, including memorable appearances as Monsieur Alphonse in 'Allo 'Allo! and in Blackadder the Third. He was appointed MBE in 1991 in recognition of his contribution to entertainment.
